Xiawan village is located in the west of Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County, Hezhou City, with its back to Dupangling and close to Bixi lake. Under the jurisdiction of the village, there are five natural villages: Yuanli village, xinlizhai village, Maozhang village, bailutang village and Linjia village. Previously, Xiawan village had a disordered layout, weak infrastructure, difficult roads and irrigation. Farmers mainly planted rice and corn, with single income, backward economic development and difficult income increase. In 2011, the per capita net income of farmers in Xiawan village was only 2800 yuan, which was far lower than the average level of Guangxi, and it was a typical poor village.
In 2012, Xiawan village was listed as a national key poverty alleviation and development village and the first batch of poverty-stricken villages promoted by the whole village during the 12th Five Year Plan period in Guangxi. Under the guidance of various departments at all levels, Xiawan village actively develops such industries as navel orange, orange and other characteristic fruits, and introduces Guangxi Xingfu group, China Resources wufenghang and other enterprises to help the poor, so as to develop modern and efficient ecological agriculture. At present, 400 mu of flue-cured tobacco, 1900 mu of high-quality navel orange and 1200 mu of watermelon are planted in the village. In 2012, the per capita income of Xiawan village was 3657 yuan, which is expected to exceed 5000 yuan this year.
At the same time, Xiawan village has also won the project funds of three major projects involving infrastructure, industrial development and new rural construction. With the financial support of the government, Xiawan village has been comprehensively transformed in water, electricity, roads, fields and environmental sanitation. Villagers have demolished old houses and built buildings with national characteristics. In addition, the village has also added infrastructure such as the villagers' entertainment center, public leisure places, rural happy homes, cultural promenade and so on, greatly improving the villagers' production and living conditions.
"With the help of the government, the village has now taken on a new look. We villagers should also strive to develop our economy and contribute to the construction of our hometown.". Next, Xiawan village will use its own resource advantages to develop agritainment and eco-tourism projects, and promote villagers' income.
